Excursions – Mountainous Villages
The beauty of Limassol doesn’t lie only in its coastal part. The mountainous villages of Limassol (Omodos, Vasa Kilaniou, Fini, Platres, Kyperounta and Arsos) are ideal for excursions. . Every village has its own produce for which it is famous. Festivals and other events are taking place all year round. The residents are always hospitable and willing to show visitors around. Wineries, the museum of zivania, production areas for the preparation of traditional bread, jam, palouze etc. are some of the places one can visit when touring these villages. Most of them also offer accommodation in traditional small hotels.
A variety of activities is available to sports lovers, just outside the city. Such activities are horse-riding, kite- and wind-surfing, paintball and kart-racing at Erimi, Paramalli and Pissouri, Moni and Asgata, respectively.
Limassol is a proud organiser of annual events, inextricably linked with the philosophy of the city: . the Wine Festival takes place in August, the Carnival in sping, the Street Life Festival and the Anthestiria (Flower Celebration) in May, while the Limassol Marathon in March. The Marathon attracts every year a significant number of athletes from all around the world, who visit Limassol exclusively for this event.
