Dr Nael Jebril is Senior Lecturer in Journalism at the Faculty of Media and Communication at Bournemouth University, and former Academic Fellow in Media and Democracy at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, and the Department of Politics and International Relations at Oxford University. He is co-recipient of the 2016 Goldsmith Book Prize by Harvard University, and had convened Oxford University’s Media Research seminars between 2012 and 2014.
Dr Jebril is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. Previously, he was an associate member of Green Templeton College, Oxford University (2012 – 2015), and a research associate at the Center for Journalism, University of Southern Denmark (2013 – 2014). In in 2009, he was a long-term visiting scholar at the Amsterdam School of Communication Research. He is currently deputy director of the cross-faculty MA in Media and Communication at Bournemouth University, and editor of a special issue of Interactions: Studies in Communications and Culture.
